The most popular platform lifts spare parts
Operational wear and tear places significant stress on powered access equipment as they deal with the movement of heavy loads. This natural wear and tear leads to deformation and possible component failure. In addition, some lift spare parts can fail due to accidents, often associated with design flaws or violation of equipment operation rules.
Wear and tear of MEWP spare parts
Wear and tear is the process by which lift components age and fail due to various factors. The three main factors are mechanical, corrosion-mechanical or molecular mechanical.
Mechanical wear

The main cause of mechanical wear is friction between machine components. This friction leads to a gradual abrasion of the surface of MEWP spare parts and a change in their shape. Mechanical wear is divided into
- fatigue
- abrasive
Fatigue wear occurs as a result of deformations caused by the loads to which the lift is subjected in its operation. This may include chipped surfaces on the gears of lifting mechanisms, breakage of axle shafts, and the occurrence of cracks in the metal structures of machines.
With abrasive wear, the part fails due to scratching by tiny particles. For example, the integrity of the lifting platform roller pins may be compromised due to abrasive wear.
Corrosion-mechanical wear
This wear occurs due to the friction of the metal already chemically interacting with the environment. Corrosive-mechanical wear manifests itself in the form of ulcers, pits and rust on the metal surfaces of machine parts. To prevent MEWP failure due to corrosion, it is necessary to carry out regular platform lift maintenance and properly treat and paint surfaces.
Molecular mechanical wear
Molecular mechanical wear occurs as a result of the interaction of internal molecular forces and external mechanical forces. This wear often occurs when components become seized, which in turn can be caused by poor lubrication, improper surface finishing, or excessive lift load. In this case, grooves are formed on one of the contacting surfaces and ridges on the other.

The most popular lift spare parts
It’s no surprise that the most in-demand lift components are those that wear out the fastest.
Traction and safety ropes
Inadequate or defective cables may simply break, putting the load or workers on the platform at immediate risk of falling. Ensuring the proper condition of these elements directly affects the safety of workers and cargo.
Support parts
These components are critical to the stability of lifting equipment. If the support is poor or deformed, the lift may move out of position or even tip over.
Traction batteries

These batteries, used in electric powered MEWPs, are essential to the operation of the equipment. Alas, these components are among the most short-lived elements of almost any equipment.
Regular maintenance and timely replacement are necessary to ensure trouble-free operation of your lifting machine.
